What is Economic Gardening?

Economic Gardening supports strategic growth of businesses with a desire and capacity to grow.  The Economic Gardening process puts critical market analysis information and other tools in the hands of local, growth-oriented businesses to help them grow and create jobs!

For Business Owners

If you are a small business owner in Utah, you may be eligible to participate in this tried-and-proven method of helping small businesses acquire key insight and information to expand customer base, increase sales and grow your business.  The information and videos on this site will help you learn how it works.  Simply contact your local Small Business Development Center or economic development office to participate.

For Economic Developers

Initial efforts with this program in Utah have yielded tremendous results.  Twelve of the initial companies involved in the Rural Utah Economic Gardening Demonstration Project completed reported achieving $16.6 million in increased annual sales and created 122 jobs.   Bringing this turn-key program to qualifying businesses in your community is as simple as coordinating with your local SBDC office and introducing the opportunity to your local companies.  Funding engagements is also an important aspect of the program, so local economic development funding sources should be considered.
